A quirky Bury firm which plays a vital role in the showbusiness sector has been selected as one of the nation’s top 100 most inspiring small firms.

Action Media Hire (AMH), a company which provides police action vehicles to the TV and film, music videos and photography industry, has been named in the top 100 most inspiring small UK firms.

The company, which also provides supporting artists, uniformed drivers and props to the UK media industry, was named by the Small Business Saturday UK campaign.

Founded by Brent-James Pinder with support from The Prince’s Trust in October 2021, AMH has worked on the like of motocross stunt bikes for The LEGO Group, music videos such as BRITS Awards winner, Little Simz, and comedy series "Meet the Richardsons" among other jobs.

Managing director Brent said: “I am thrilled that out of the many applications across the UK wanting to be one of the selected Small Business 100 companies for 2022, the judges have chosen my start-up.

“Action Media Hire wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the support of my mentor at The Prince’s Trust, along with ‘Build a Business in GM Libraries’, Made in Bury Business Academy, Business & IP Centre Greater Manchester and the European Regional Development Fund.

The idea for the company came after Brent’s friend, built a replica police car identical to the vehicles used in the Hot Fuzz movie.

Brent said: “We started working together to adapt those skills and knowledge learnt about police equipment, vehicles and regulations to create our current style of police cars.

“The company is highly unique due to it being a BME-led business that is ‘disability confident committed’, in addition to running community engagement projects with local police and raising thousands of pounds for Bury non-profits through the annual Santaceptor fundraiser.”

Welcoming the news, Bury North MP James Daly said: “It is absolutely fantastic to see the hard work and entrepreneurial spirit of a local small business being recognised.

Action Media Hire will be profiled by the campaign on September 17 as part of the 100-day countdown to Small Business Saturday UK.
