Bury Parish Church will hold a memorial service on Sunday to mourn the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The service, at the church situated on The Rock, which will start at 6.30pm, will be a chance for Bury residents to come together to pay their respects.

It will be followed by a national one-minute silence at 8pm.

During the National Moment of Reflection, the service will remember and celebrate the Queen’s life and commemorate her passing, which happened last Thursday when she died aged 96.

The service will be led by the Revd Julian Heaton, the Rector of Bury, and everyone is welcome to attend and show their respects.

Places will be limited but the service will be live streamed for anyone who cannot make the event in person.

A council service spokesman said: “This is an extremely sad moment in history and on behalf of Bury we have offered our condolences by way of a public statement from the mayor, which can be read in full on the council’s website along with other local information.”
