Queen Elizabeth II's visit to Bury, 1954
Thousands of people ignored the pouring rain to line the streets of Bury in October 1954 when Queen Elizabeth II made her first visit to the town.
Bunting flew from the lamp posts and special barriers were erected to keep the crowds back as the royal party drove into town.
