A spook-tacular display is wowing passers-by as a Bury couple continue their Halloween tradition.
Pete and Lisa Machin, who live on Bolton Road, enjoy lavishly decorating their house for the celebration of all things scary.
As well as Halloween, the home is famous locally for its incredibly decorated exterior in preparation for Christmas.
Lisa, 39, said: “People do look forward to it and we keep getting pulled up and see posts on Facebook saying ‘is the house on Bolton Road doing the decorations yet'.
“We’ve always done it, no matter where we’ve lived, but obviously because we live on the main road it’s become a bit of an attraction, It just makes it so special for us.
“I was at my local garage as well, and they said that we can’t put decorations up until you’ve put yours up!”
Despite rocketing energy bills, the couple have not been put off from powering up this years spooktacular display.
Lisa added: “We use LEDs which are low cost and I’ve only got two blow power-ups outside.
“All the rest is just props and things like that so it doesn’t really cost that much.
“Most of the stuff we’ve got is from charity shops and second-hand.
“We often use Bolton Hospice, a charity shop in Radcliffe near the Asda and another one in Manchester.
“I do events and weddings so most of the garages are full of event stuff so we need lockers to store all the decorations, even still my husband has to keep stopping me from buying more!”
The set-up took one weekend to put up but the Christmas spectacle takes around two weeks.
Lisa said: “These ones will stay up til just after Halloween and once these come down I’ll start putting the Christmas ones up ready for November 14.
“We do it then because it’s Pete’s mum’s birthday. She passed away 11 years ago so every year for her birthday, we try and have the decorations up, it’s like a special memory.
“On the Christmas during lockdown we used to go out dressed as Father Christmas and the elves.
“We raised around £4,300 for Cash for Kids just by going out for two hours a night every night.
“There are currently two buckets at the gate for people throw money in it and I think we have raised about £20 up to now.”
Lisa has said that any trick-or-treaters on Halloween night will be greeted by the pair who will be donning spooky costumes for the evening.
