A lorry overturned on the M66 near Bury last night, Sunday.
The incident happened near to junction 3 for the Pilsworth Interchange at around 11.30pm.
The driver of the HGV escaped with just a few cuts.
A section of the carriageway was closed off until 3am today, Monday, while the lorry was being recovered.
Pictures from police shared on social media show many emergency vehicles close to the lorry.
On Sunday, a North West Motorway Police spokesman said: “Earlier tonight (Sunday) a HGV overturned - thankfully the driver escaped with a few cuts - J3, M66 closed for recovery.”
A Transport for Greater Manchester spokesman added: “Road closed. The M66 S/B entry slip road is closed at junction 3 (off Pilsworth Road).
“This is due to an overturned vehicle."
