Tonight’s Bury AFC away match against Northwich Victoria has been cancelled after a number of Covid cases have been reported in the home side's squad.

The decision to call off the North West Counties Football League (NWCFL) match follows a meeting of the league’s emergency committee this morning.

Apologising to fans, the club said a new date and time will be organised and they should now look to this weekend's away game at Hallam.

In the announcement, Bury AFC said they hoped the call was early enough to prevent any unnecessary travel.

A club spokesman said: “We have made representations to the NWCFL in an attempt to have the game played but ultimately must accept the binding decision of the league’s emergency committee, understanding that both the league and Northwich have a duty of care to the players and the league as a whole.

“A new date for the game will be communicated as soon as we have it and wish to place on record our apologies for any inconvenience caused and hope that this is an early enough call to prevent any unnecessary travel.”

“We move on to our next game, away at Hallam in the FA Vase Second Round this weekend.

“Tickets have so far been made available to members only, via email.

"The limited number that remain available will go on general sale shortly. Head to our ticket section for more information.”
