An accountancy firm in Holcombe Brook is celebrating success as it prepares to open a second branch.

Cura Accounting opened its first office on Longsight Road in 2021 and is now getting ready to introduce its second branch in less than two years, just across the road.

The business, run by managing director Debbie Garcia, has gone from strength to strength since establishing itself in Bury during the Covid-19 pandemic and has increased its workforce from eight to 35 people.

The new branch will be home it its new bookkeeping hub, a service that Debbie says is highly sought after by businesses but for which few firms offer a dedicated service.

Debbie, 42, said: “A lot of people just don’t know where to go, you set up a new business, you need someone a day a week to do some bookkeeping but you’ve not got the budget or you don’t need somebody full time, where do you go?

“I think it’s quite unique.

“I’m hoping to get a lot of foot fall from it, because no one else does it.”

Since it started trading two years ago, Cura Accounting is landing bigger and bigger clients, including one with an annual turnover of £80m.

Despite expanding, Debbie says she is keen to keep the business local and says the vast majority of her staff live in the Ramsbottom area.

“I think we offer a very personalised service, so if you wanted bookkeeping done each week, it wouldn’t be a different person, it would be the same person doing your books each week and that’s key; consistency.”

In the future, Debbie says she hopes to open a branch in Bolton but says she’d also love the business to be the first choice for every business in the borough.

“We’re growing so quickly, our plan is to open a branch in Bolton, recruit locally and win business locally.

“At the minute we’ve got a lot of clients in Manchester and South Manchester but I’d love to be known as the book keeping centre and finance function of all the businesses in Bury, I don’t need any more than that, that’s my ambition.”
