The council has announced the rollout of "warm hubs" across the borough, following in the footsteps of other areas of Greater Manchester.

As temperatures fall this winter and energy bills skyrocket, warm banks are opening for those most in need.

The spaces are used for people to have somewhere warm to sit if they cannot afford their heating bills.

People can sit in the comfortable and friendly environment and enjoy refreshments, social activity, information and advice, the company of others and stay healthy and well.

The initiative forms part of a wider package of measures from the council to help residents with the cost-of-living crisis, and to keep well during the winter months.
