Filming has started for a documentary made by a former Bury College student which covers life after war in Iraq.

Zain Ullah, who is creating the documentary, will examine how the Second Persian Gulf war has changed people’s daily lives 11 years since the end of the conflict.

The documentary will consist of three episodes in the first series.

The first two episodes will be filmed in the UK and will feature interviews with major politicians, veterans and authors who wrote books about the war.

The third episode will be filmed in Iraq where one of former president Saddam Hussein’s main officials appears on camera for the first time since the invasion.

Zain, 21, said: “In the first episode that we have officially filmed this weekend, we interviewed Dr Steven Hurst, who is the author of the United States Iraqi/ Iranian nuclear programme - and studies about the foreign policies in Iran and Iraq.

“In the interview with Dr Hurst, we talked about the United Nations, the war in Ukraine and the Middle East.

“The 55-minute episode also talks about the public purge of 1979 and invasion of Iraq, and how the invasion was illegal and not sanctioned by the UN Security Council.”

Zain is also in talks with a major platform distributor that is taking our documentary to the next level for Amazon Prime.

He added: "We experienced delays in filming after production has been slow, however I can now confirm we have started in the United Kingdom interviewing major readers, authors of worldwide Middle Eastern books and war veterans.”

When in Iraq, Zain will be travelling with a guide to the former capital of ISIS, Tikrit / Anbar and the cities still occupied by ISIS as well as Baghdad.
