A salon in Edgworth has aired its frustration after a series of no shows and cancellations.

The Village Retreat on Blackburn Road in Edgworth shared its disappointment on its Facebook and Instagram pages after having a number of last minute cancellations and no shows recently.

Many small businesses have been noticing more cancellations and no shows which is thought to be due to bad weather and the cost-of-living crisis.

A similar issue happened at Colleen’s restaurant in Ramsbottom where they had more than 30 no shows over the weekend.

On Monday, The Village Retreat posted on social media: “Hi all….we understand that everyone is busy at this time of year but we really cannot withstand the number of last-minute cancellations/no shows we are experiencing.

“We are a small business and it just isn’t fair.

“We simply ask for more than 24 hours notice so you don’t incur a 50 per cent charge.

“We also haven’t always got a cancellation list that a client can stand in/fill your appointment so please don’t assume we can just fill it.

“This is because we are already working early starts, later nights and extra days to accommodate everyone.

“So all our clients already have their appointments.

“Please double check your confirmation and 48 hour reminder emails for the days and times of your appointments.

“Call us if you can’t find it so we can check it.

“We know it’s a very hard time for all but we have this policy in place for over six years now and haven’t changed it.

“Thank you all for your continuation of loyalty and understanding.

“We wish you all a very Merry Christmas with lots of festive fun.”

Many residents have understood the disappointment and have suggested the salon starts to introduce deposits for people who book in the future.
