A man has been charged with the murder of a grandad from Heywood.
On Sunday, January 29, Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of concern for welfare of a man in his 70s at an address on Hardfield Street.
Officers discovered that Geoffrey Ives died aged 75 and a murder investigation was launched.
Andrew Hall, 57, of Crown Road, Heywood has now been charged with murder.

He has been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

In a tribute to Geoffrey, his family said: "He has been there and supported us throughout our whole lives, always putting us first.
"He was a stubborn man, but there wasn't a bad bone in his body.
"Everyone that knew him loved him.
"He was the best dad, grandad, uncle, and friend to us all."
