An Unsworth woman has spent the last six weeks learning to dance in the hopes of winning a Strictly glitter ball-themed trophy next month.

Vicci Coffey is one of 10 dancing novices who will be taking to the dance floor in a Strictly Come Dancing-themed fundraiser for Francis House Children’s Hospice.

After six weeks of hourly lessons, Vicci, 38,  said that despite her nerves, she wants that glitter ball trophy.

She said: “I’ve never done anything like this before and I am just praying the nerves don’t get the better of me on the night.

“I hope to do the routine with no mistakes, raise lots of money for the charity and I’m not going to lie – I want that glitter ball trophy.”

At the event, the dancers will pair up with competitive dancers from Topaz Dance to compete in the Strictly Francis House glitter ball trophy.

Vicci said: “I had some dance lessons as a child – but that was longer ago than I would like to admit!

“Other than the lessons, I am struggling to do too much physical practice due to the space needed.

“I wasn’t sure if the Samba was for me at first, but I love it.

“I do watch a video of the routine about 20 times per day to keep it in my mind and I follow some basic dance tuitions online to try and loosen my hips and improve my fitness.”
