Bury North MP James Daly has expressed his delight after it has been confirmed he will stand at the next general election to defend his seat.

Mr Daly, who has served the area since winning his position at the last general election in December 2019, has been reselected by the Conservatives to be on the ballot sheets the next time residents cast their votes.

Sharing his joy on being reselected, he also reflected on the work he has contributed to Bury so far such as helping with government investment.

Mr Daly said: “I am immensely proud to represent the area which my family and I are lucky enough to call home.

"Since having the honour of being the member of Parliament for Bury, Ramsbottom and Tottington, we have seen investment in our world famous Market, a new STEM centre built at Bury College and securing government money to save Gigg Lane.

"I have also had the privilege of visiting many of our local charities, community groups, businesses, organisations, schools and residents."
