A talented Tottington photographer has picked up her third award this year, thanking the NHS who made her wins possible after they helped save her life and her son's.

Mum-of-three Rebecca Cusick, of Rebecca Jones Photography, has been celebrating her business successes after having her work published in fashion magazine Vogue and picking up three awards so far this year.

Rebecca, who moved to the borough in 2019, said that while her achievements have been an incredible success, they may not have been possible if it were not for the NHS.

She said: “In 2019, I was in the Bury Times for a very different reason.”

When expecting her second child, Rebecca was admitted to the Royal Bolton Hospital after complications with her pregnancy over the Christmas period.

She said: “We had been set to cancel Christmas until kind-hearted maternity ward staff stepped in, set up a special private room with beds for my husband and son and even a Christmas tree.

“I went on to have a very traumatic birth on Christmas Day but thanks to our amazing NHS myself and my baby were both lucky to pull through and now I’m here winning awards for my business.”

Now a mum to three boys, Rebecca said it has been a crazy few years and on top of the three most recent wins, has been nominated for yet another award.

Rebecca started her photography career in 2013, shot her first wedding in 2014 and made the decision to work as a full-time wedding photographer in 2018.

She said: “It's quite hard to get into the industry really because no one wants to hire a relatively inexperienced photographer, no matter how good they may be.

“Luckily, a wedding photographer let me be his second so I could get practice in and build my portfolio before someone finally trusted me to be their wedding photographer.”
