More than 45 people in Bury have been given lifesaving training over the past month thanks to several borough community groups.

A scheme from the BAME Project has helped to deliver free three-hour sessions in First Aid training to community group volunteers, members, faith group leaders, and volunteers from sports coaching and local markets.

Held at ADAB’s Mosses Community Centre, the sessions were delivered over four weeks and aim to provide members of the community with lifesaving skills.

Ummrana Farooq, founder of the BAME Project, did the course as a refresher adding that the skills it provided could be crucial to saving someone's life.

She said: “Working at A&E as a receptionist, I understand the importance of having the knowledge and experience of dealing with anything from a minor cut to performing CPR to save people's lives.
