Anti-social behaviour ruins lives without consequence, you don't need me to tell you that if you have been unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end of a mugging, a burglary or having your personal property damaged.

You will also sadly know all too well the feelings it can leave you with for weeks, months or even years.

That car you have worked hard and cut back on things for being broken into, that bicycle you rely on to get you to and from work being pinched out of your shed, the home you are meant to feel safe and secure to build a life in, being vandalised leaving you unable to relax and twitching at the curtains at the sound of any noise outside.

There also is a particular demoralising feeling when you care about your area, you are respectful of the environment, take your waste to the tip only for some toe rag to dump whatever waste they cannot be bothered to deal with properly.

It brings the area down and makes you question what the point is of "playing by the rules" when other people can't be bothered.

It is important that we restore pride in our communities and look after them as well as one another.

The disgraceful behaviour of a small minority undermines communities, blights town centres and leaves people feeling unsafe

This isn't fair and what also isn't fair is under this Conservative government, more offenders are getting away with it, and more communities are being completely let down.

Don't just take my word for it. Talk to people anywhere, Bury or anywhere across the country, and they would say after 13 years we’re in a position where anti-social behaviour still hasn’t been dealt with.

Anyone I seem to meet on the doorstep is pretty fed up with the government and they don’t think that the measures the government’s put in place are making any difference

And is it any surprise when you dig into the figures? Thankfully, Labour has a plan to put that right.

Since 2015, 10,000 neighbourhood officers and police community support officers (PCSOs) have been cut from Britain’s streets

Labour will introduce another 13,000 neighbourhood police and PCSOs, increase town centre patrols and guarantee a named officer and PCSO for every community.

Criminal damage is up more than 30 per cent in the last year alone.

Labour will introduce new Respect Orders: a new criminal offence, issued if an adult’s anti-social behaviour injunction is breached, giving the police stronger powers, ending the farce of confusing powers and systems which are barely used.

Under the Tories, fly-tippers dump rubbish 3,000 times every day!

Labour will create clean up squads for fly-tippers- with tough penalties for fly-tippers and establish clean up squads whereby offenders will clear up litter, fly-tipping and vandalism they have dumped.

Labour’s mission will be to make Britain’s streets safe. Tackling anti-social behaviour is a key part of that mission, and we have the plan to deliver it.
