A care home in Radcliffe has had a double celebration after marking its 10-year anniversary and being praised in a healthcare watchdog inspection.

Residents and employees at Abbeycliffe Care Home spent an afternoon celebrating and were treated to music from entertainer Chris Davids.

The mayor of Bury, Cllr Shaheena Haroon, also attended.

The celebrations were organised by business manager Sonia Woods, senior manager Fiona Jackson and registered manager Hayley Kempton.

Sonia said: “We had a fantastic afternoon celebrating the success of Abbeycliffe over the past 10 years.

“We have exceeded all expectations for a small, family run, 40 bed residential care home in Radcliffe.

“We have over 55 per cent of our staff who have been with us for over five years and we couldn't have done it without them.

"We truly are one big Abbeycliffe family.”

The School Street care home received an overall rating of "good" by the Care Quality Commission after an inspection by the regulator on January 19.

Residents at the home spoke very positively about the service and interactions with staff were also good.

The report said: “People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.”

The service was rated "good" in how safe the care home is, its responsiveness as well as its leadership, an improvements to the three areas which "required improvement" at the last inspection.

The care home was providing care to 35 people at the time of inspection.
