A Bury school which is set to close has celebrated the King's coronation and assured parents that their standards will not drop.
Bury Catholic Preparatory School marked the royal event with a day of activities and a special assembly explaining the coronation process and ceremony.

After the recent announcement that the school will be closing, one teacher said the school are “focused on providing children with their best term yet".

The school is expected to close at the end of the current academic year, and in order to give children their most “memorable term to date”, the coronation was celebrated in full force.
Coronation-themed lunches took place as well as a "right royal" family games afternoon, a full school and family photo and British ice creams from an ice cream van invited to park in the schoolyard.
Once part of Bury Convent, Bury Catholic Preparatory School was originally set up by The Daughters of the Cross but was later taken over by parent governors in the 1970s, when the Sisters stepped down and the school became completely independent.
Following the announcement of the closure, a mum-of-two at the school said: “We are genuinely heartbroken that our children won’t be able to continue their education here through to Year 6.
"But, the support and continuity we have received from the school and staff has been overwhelming and exactly what we expect from our BCPS family!”
