Performances at Parklife festival have resumed after a thunderstorm led to the power being cut to all stages.

Fans were told to move away from large structures as the storm passed over Heaton Park.

People in attendance also reported that access gates to the festival were being closed.

Parklife tweeted at 4.00pm: "Please note for the safety of customers and staff, we are calling a full show stop. We are expecting this to last for 40 minutes whilst the storm passes. Thank you for your patience."

Due to the weather conditions, entry time to the festival was pushed back ahead of a re-start an hour later.

The show resumed at around 5.00pm.

A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been in place across much of the North West this weekend, including Greater Manchester.
