The owners of a Chinese restaurant have announced that it is closing its doors after 21 years.

With a “heavy heart” the owners of China Cottage on Bolton Street in Ramsbottom said the venue will be closing after the end of July but promise customers that “we will be back” and "hope to find a new venue".

Owner Leo Tse broke the news via an announcement on social media.

He said: “Dear valued customers, due to the end of our contract with the existing landlord, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of our restaurant after the end of July 2023.

“We have been honoured to be a part of the Ramsbottom community for the last 21 years and have seen the town grow into a beloved destination.”

Although the news has rocked customers, Leo hopes to find a new home for the restaurant.

He added: “We will miss serving you, but we hope to find a new venue soon and continue to serve you in the near future.

“Thank you for your continued support and patronage.”

In reaction to the news, many shared words of support such as: “You’ll be back, and we’ll be waiting.

“Looking forward to more yummy food and seeing you again, love and God bless you all.”
