Five people have been charged with the murder of a 17-year-old boy in Rochdale.

Callum Riley was found with serious injuries on Atholl Drive in Heywood on Saturday, September 17 last year and died shortly afterwards.

A murder investigation was launched and yesterday (Wednesday) five people were charged in connection with Callum’s murder.

Those charged are: Tony Adams, 34, of Minshull New Road, Crewe, was charged with murder, section 18 assault, and criminal damage.

Dale Heywood, 25, of Windermere Road, Middleton, was charged with murder, section 18 assault and criminal damage.

A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has also been charged with murder, section 18 assault, and criminal damage.

Michelle Conaghan, 34, of Minshull New Road, Crewe, was charged with assisting an offender.

Niomi Conaghan, 18, of Minshull New Road, Crewe was charged with assisting an offender.

All five suspects are set to appear at Manchester Magistrates Court today (Thursday).

Paying tribute to her son after his death, Callum's mother Tracy said: "Callum was a strong and caring young man, loved so deeply by his family, friends and his girlfriend.

“His love for his mother and his brothers was immeasurable.

“A lovely lad, with a good heart, protective of his family and always the best of intentions. Stolen away from us far too young in life.

“He will be forever missed, and remembered with love. Life will never be the same again.

“As a family we ask for the respect and privacy whilst we come to terms with this huge loss in our lives."

His dad said: "Callum was a much-loved son, brother and uncle.

“He was a loving caring young man who never failed to make us laugh.

“He will be sadly missed by us all. In death as you were in life, unforgettable."
