Road users have been warned to expect delays due to a fallen tree in Prestwich after strong winds.
The tree is believed to have fallen into the road on the A576 Middleton Road on Monday morning, with two lanes closed as a result.
This comes after persistent strong winds not just on Monday morning but over the course of the weekend.
According to the Met Office, “blustery showers” are likely to be a feature in the Bury area for the rest of the day.
Traffic is said to be coping well but drivers should still allow extra time for their journeys in case congestion builds up as a result of the lane closures.
Winds are likely to continue over the course of the day, with motorists having been warned that further disruption could be possible in other parts of the Greater Manchester region if further debris is blown across roads.
In the event of any dangerous disruption, members of the public have been advised to call 999 as soon as it is safe to do so.
