Forty life-sized animatronic dinosaurs will be coming to a Prestwich park this summer to transform the area into a palaeontologist’s playground.

A 'Dinosaurs in the Park' event will take place at Heaton Park from July 20 to August 6, for what has been dubbed as an “educational and enjoyable day out for the whole family”.

Dino fans of all ages will be able to see favourites such as the Stegosaurus, Triceratops and Velociraptor, and the lesser-known Dilophosaurus, Kentrosaurus and Hypacrosaurus.

Visitors can follow the Dinosaur Trail, solve puzzles, and carry out some Jurassic dentistry by brushing the teeth of the resident T-Rex.

The palaeontologist will discuss all things dinosaur as well as answer questions, showcase some of his fossil collection and give children the opportunity to bring their own fossils to hear more about them as well as have them aged.
