Trainee teachers across Bury will benefit from a training programme as an education trust announces a partnership with a national charity.

Shaw Education Trust is a growing multi academy trust with 29 schools, including Woodhey High School, Tottington High School, and Unsworth Academy in Bury.

It is also set to open a new school in Bury, for children with special educational needs and disabilities, in the next academic year.

The trust is extensively involved in training teachers.

And to build on this success, Shaw Education Trust has now become a founding partner of national education charity Ambition Institute to provide a new training programme.

The Teacher training course draws on the latest evidence of what makes teaching effective in raising pupil achievement.

The two organisations will be working together to train new teachers in Bury.

Ambition Institute’s new teacher training programme extends its provision of high-quality professional development for existing teachers and school leaders, which is reaching more than 46,000 teachers and school leaders this year.

Chief executive officer at Ambition Institute, Hilary Spencer, said: “A great teacher changes the future every day.

“Especially for children who have had a tough start in life, a teacher can be the critical factor in their success.

“That is why we believe every teacher should have access to high quality professional development from the very outset of their career.

“Shaw Education Trust does fantastic work with schools across the Northwest and Midlands, and we're looking forward to building on our partnership so that every teacher in the region can get high quality support.”

Shaw Education Trust and Ambition Institute are now recruiting for the first cohort of trainee teachers to start in 2024.
