A new high-end fashion store is to open in Bury, it has been announced.

Flannels will be moving onto The Rock Shopping Centre, into the unit previously occupied by Tessuti.

Tessuti announced earlier this year it was closing its stores in both Bolton and Bury and the Frasers Group’s designer multi-brand retailer, Flannels will be ‘opening soon’ in both locations.

The nearest one is in Manchester city centre, while another branch is also opening in the former Tessuti store in Blackburn.

Bury Times: New store opening on The Rock

Fashionistas will be able to shop all their favourite designer brands, such as BOSS, D. Squared and Barbour, when the store opens towards the end of August.

Flannels, also owned by Frasers, will join the tenant list at The Rock along with other recent newcomers, Ann Summers, Vanilla, SkechersKaspa’s Desserts and Shoe Zone.

Earlier this year, Centre director at The Rock, Arnold Wilcox-Wood said that more people were returning to shop at The Rock shopping centre as footfall numbers began to reach pre-Covid levels and more brands are moved to the town.

He said: "Retail has changed since we opened and the rise of the internet and online shopping certainly plays a part.

“We know that people don’t need to go shopping anymore, they can do a lot from the comfort of their homes – but The Rock isn’t just retail.

“We have a huge food and beverage offering as well as a very popular leisure block, including Hollywood Bowl the Vue cinema and Pure Gym.”

"We are confident this trend of new openings will continue, The Rock is currently 99 per cent fully let.

“Sadly some businesses don’t always survive and unfortunately that can be the nature of the industry, but interest in the centre remains strong and lettings are buoyant.”
