Bright futures lie ahead for Bury College students after achieving top marks in their A levels.

The college confirmed an overall pass rate of 97 per cent across all advanced level 3 courses and 65 advanced level 3 courses achieving a 100 per cent pass rate.

Eleven A level subjects achieved a 100 per cent pass rate and all T level childcare and education students achieved a distinction

The college held a special event for those collecting their results to today, with many high achievers in the mix.

James Hathaway, 18,  studied biology, chemistry, physics and maths at the college and achieved A*A*AA.

He will start studying towards a career in medicine this September.

James said: “I’m doing medicine at the University of Leeds. I enjoyed every minute of [my A levels].

“The teachers have been brilliant and have helped me every step of the way. I originally didn’t want to go to college, but I did and it’s paid off.”

Results day isn’t all about A Levels, this year’s results day saw the first cohort of students receiving results for T Levels, a technical-based qualification which includes practical and classroom based learning.

Friends Grace Van der Kamp, Roisin Whelehan, Ellie Michaelson and Rachel Gunning all studied a T level in health. They said they best part of the studying at the college was the time they spent together and the skills they learned.

All four are set to go to university, with Grace studying paramedic science, Roisin and Ellie studying paediatric nursing and Rachel studying adult nursing.

Twin sisters Iqra and Isha Mahmood, 19, both achieved an A* after working towards a level three certificate in health and social care.

They said they felt “really relieved” about their result and had a good time studying at the college.

Both will be off to university this September.

Umra Fatima, 18, studied physics, biology and chemistry at A level achieving A*AA.

She’ll be taking a well-deserved gap year before applying to study medicine at the University of Manchester.

She said: “I found that the teachers were really, really, nice, I didn’t know a lot about Bury College but it was a really, really good college.

“The teachers are very caring and helpful all the time.”

“I’m going to remember my biology teacher, Martin Attree, I made a new best friend.

"The college gave me so many memories.”
