“Are we having a rave?” he asked to cheers. “Yes we are,” he said, launching into Jocelyn Brown’s Somebody Else’s Guy as part of his set of club classics and current house music.

At The Afterparty With Gok Wan and Co, the 48-year-old was supported by some of the biggest names on the club circuit including Phats & Small, Sweet Female Attitude and Rio Fredrika.

Gok says he loves both jobs equally. “I really do,” he said. “I love every part of my jobs.

“For me, on stage it’s not necessarily about the product, it’s not necessarily about food, or writing or fashion or DJing, it’s about the communication with the audience.

“I like being in front of people and I like making feel happy, whether they’re dancing or eating or dressing, It doesn’t matter. Whatever the by-product is I like the fact that we get to share something.

“I’m very lucky that I like people and I like to do a job that’s all about people.”

Bolton Food and Drink Festival hosts more than 180 stalls of food, drink, crafts and gifts with free demonstrations by some of the nation and region’s most respected chefs, live music acts, children’s activities, street performers and comedy acts over the bank holiday weekend.
