The work is expected to be completed by Christmas but the rest of the park, including the tennis courts, are still available for use.

The refurbishment comes after the bandstand in the park was recently restored after work on it began in 2021.

Cllr Alan Quinn, the council's cabinet member for the environment, said: “We are proud to have 14 Green Flag parks across our borough, which include Nuttall Park, and we are continuing to invest in them for the benefit of local communities.

“We are now refurbishing the play area, at a cost of around £100,000, which includes replacing old equipment, and the work should be complete by Christmas.

“We will also be renewing some pathways around the bowling greens, which were washed away a couple of years ago after flooding.

“This comes following the completion of works to restore the bandstand, which has been warmly welcomed by local residents and park visitors.

“Working in partnership with local communities is very important, and I’d like to thank the Friends of Nuttall Park for all their hard work in helping to maintain the park and bring about these improvements.”
