The team behind Bury drag bar The House Of Bridget is set to re-open Oldham’s The George Tavern on Friday, November 10 in a ‘grand reopening’ event.

The pub, which is the centre of Oldham’s yearly pride celebrations, has been run by couple Terri Fox and David Morgan for the past five years.

However, Terri revealed she had taken the ‘very sad’ decision to bid farewell to the pub last month, due to family health concerns.

In March, Terri had said continuing construction on the council’s Spindles Shopping Centre renovation had led to the pub having ‘no passing trade whatsoever’.

As recently as last week, signs outside the pub showed it was available ‘To Let’.

In a Facebook post shared on Thursday, November 2, the Woodcock Group team revealed the pub would re-open in a matter of days.

The group owns venues including Bury LGBT+ venue The House Of Bridge, which was nominated for the 2023 Gaydio Pride Awards ‘Venue or Event of the Year.’  The venue missed out on the award to Manchester city centre’s Filthy Gorgeous student night at The Brewers, on Canal Street.

Other venues owned by the group are Stanley’s of Tottington and Stanley’s of Bury.

The re-opening is set to span three days, from Friday to Sunday, with drag queens Alix Atlantis, Babi-Chino, Cleo-De-Ville, and Alotta-Body all set to make an appearance on Friday.

The pub will officially re-open at 7pm on Friday, opening from noon on Saturday and Sunday.
