We are inviting you to join in on some festive fun by supporting Bury Hospice on Christmas Jumper Day.

The team at the hospice will be leading the way by wearing Christmas-themed jumpers on Friday, December 8 to raise funds for, and awareness of the vital palliative and end-of-life care provided at the hospice.

People near and far can support our patient care by wearing a Christmas jumper at their school or workplace, and by making a donation of £2.

We also kindly ask for a donation of £3 for those who want to support our care services but would prefer not to wear a Christmas jumper on the day.

If you are looking for a festive jumper, you will find them across all of the hospice retail shops, at affordable prices.

According to Oxfam, around 300,000 tonnes of clothing ends up in household bins every year, with around 20 per cent going to landfill and 80 per cent incinerated.

Amber Wood, Head of retail at the hospice, said: “Buying a Christmas jumper from one of our shops is a sustainable option because the jumper can be worn year-on-year in support of patients receiving care at Bury Hospice.”

We are grateful to have wonderful members of the community who are keen to support our Christmas Jumper Day.

Back in 2020, Lee Holroyd from The Car Group and his team arranged a Christmas Jumper Day to spread the joy of Christmas whilst raising funds for the hospice.

The team raised £116 from wearing their festive knits and The Car Group even match funded the amount raised.

At the time, Lee said: "It is important as a local company to support the community, and Bury Hospice provides support for those who need it."

This year, Made in Bury Brunch, in association with Business Lounge (a bronze patron of the hospice), held its Christmas Jumper Day far earlier than expected, in support of the hospice.

Nina Camplin, corporate fundraiser at the hospice, attended the brunch to support the seasonal fundraiser.

We hope that local individuals and organisations consider donating to the hospice this year - we would love to see photos of your festive knitwear.
