Gritters are hitting the roads in Bury this evening as temperatures plummet.
At around 7.30pm this evening, gritters set off from the depot to treat the streets on their gritting route, says Bury Council.
The gritters will finish at around midnight this evening as it takes around four to five hours to complete the route.
According to the Met Office, temperatures in the borough are set to drop to 5°C tonight with frost predicted in some areas.

Tomorrow morning the temperature is predicted to fall to 1°C with maximum temperatures of 5°C.

A spokesperson from Bury Council said: “It’s chilly out there folks!

“Our gritting team just left the depot and will be out tonight treating all the roads and streets on our gritting routes.
“It takes 4-5 hours to treat all routes from start to finish.
