Volunteers will get a sweat on as they spin for hours on end for a brilliant cause.

A group of women will be raising money for Backup North West on Saturday, January 27 with a spin marathon at St John's Free Church in Tottington.

The charity houses and supports young homeless people between the ages of 16 and 25.

Claire Hand, a fundraising coordinator at Backup, has organised the event in her free time.

She said: "The host will be Training With Katie, a local personal trainer company.

"I train with her and a number of the girls from Backup and others who train with her volunteered to do it.

"It will be from 9.30am to 1.30pm, with 15 of us doing the spinathon. All proceeds will go to Backup.

"We will do it continuously for the four hours, half the group will do an hour and then we will change around. Some of the girls will probably do longer.

"I don't think anyone will do four straight hours, because they wouldn't be able to stand afterwards!"

Claire added: "Family and friends will be coming down to support us.

"We heavily rely on raise as much funds as we can to help people in their day to day lives.

"We have different projects which we like to make sure can stay running. It goes on food, clothes and into specific projects that we run.

"The more money we can make fundraising, the better. If anyone wants to donate to help us, it will go into Backup North West."
