Passengers on the Bury Metrolink line have been warned of delays after a 'points failure' as snow falls across the region.

The Bee Network, which operates trams across Greater Manchester, says  there is currently no service operating between Bury and Whitefield.

Trams will operate from Whitefield into the city centre and tickets are being accepted on bus services, including the 41, 97, 98, 135 and 525.

A spokesperson for the Bee Network said: " Due to a points issue, there will be no tram service operating between Bury and Whitefield.

"Trams will operate from Whitefield into the city centre. Ticket acceptance is in place on the 41, 97, 98, 135 & 524 bus services."

This morning, The Bee Network also warned that lines from Bury will operate through Exchange Square and not call at Shudehill or Market Street.

The news comes as snow falls across the region. A yellow weather warning for snow and ice has been issued until Thursday, January 18.

The Met Office has warned travellers to take care if travelling in snowy weather.

UPDATE: The Bee Network has confirmed that trams are running between Bury and Whitefield once again.
