A town centre’s 24-hour casino is set to relocate as its current building is due to be demolished.

The Bury Market Admiral building on Market Street has been in use as an adult gaming centre since 1987.

The business, which bills itself as ‘a state-of-the-art casino that offers a truly unique experience’, has submitted plans to Bury Council to move to a unit at nearby Princess Parade.

Parent company Luxury Leisure operate around 250 high street and seaside gaming venues in the UK.

The group employs more than 2,000 staff and the Bury casino’s listing on its website states it is currently open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The current building is due to be knocked down as part of the regeneration of Bury Market with £20million support from the Government’s levelling up fund.

The scheme will involve the development of a new Flexi Hall and public realm improvements including the creation of improved links between Bury Market and the bus and tram interchange.

A planning statement said: “The applicant’s current premises are earmarked for demolition.

“Following consultation with the council the subject relocation property has been offered which is also in the ownership of the local authority.

“The subject property is a modern commercial unit located on the pedestrianised approach to Mill Gate shopping centre.

“The proposed use is a bona fide town centre use which already operates from long established premises on Market Street.

“The proposed use will provide an active ground floor frontage and serve the long established local and visitor customer base.”

Bury Council will consider the change of use proposal in the coming weeks.
