Bury Hospice was honoured to host its "For The Love Of" ball last Friday (February 9) at the Village Hotel in Rochdale Road.

Hundreds of people from across the community joined us for a spectacular evening of fine dining, dancing, and unforgettable fundraising.

Our guests had a luxury experience where they were treated to a sumptuous three-course banquet, flowing drinks, and music courtesy of the soul band, The Screaming Beavers.

February is the month of love – and love was very much evident as our guests happily joined in with the evening games, the hospice raffle, and the fantastic live auction.

With the generous support of local companies and organisations, we were delighted to offer amazing prizes which, when it came to the auction, went to the highest bidder.

Some of the prizes snapped up on the night included a Cirque De Soleil box at AO Arena with hospitality for 16 people, a Manchester United shirt (signed by the full team), and four tickets to see Take That at the Co-op arena (with access to hospitality bar).

A Michael Kors watch and a laptop were just some of the items kindly donated to the raffle, which also went down a storm.

For The Love Of was hosted by Coronation Street actors, Joe Duttine, and Sally Carman-Duttine who portray the characters, Abi Webster and Tim Metcalfe in the much-loved drama.

Sally said: "The work, effort, attention, kindness and support Bury Hospice provides is inspirational.

"Seeing how the wonderful staff and volunteers care so much for those who need them is actually joyful and heart affirming.

"To be involved in any way is a privilege and I'm thankful for every single person I've met through Bury Hospice. It's a truly wonderful place."

We were really pleased to have both Sally and Joe with us on the night, along with the assistance of photographer, Stephen Redfern, the dedicated hospice team and volunteers, and the huge backing of our patients and their families.

Care is at the heart of what we do, and it is with the love of our supporters that we are able to provide the best palliative and end-of-life care and support.

It was great to see people having a fantastic time dancing non-stop and interacting with one another whilst raising much-needed funds to ensure the sustainability of the hospice.

It really was an evening to remember and we were overwhelmed to find that we raised a total of £42,000 on the night.

We are still awaiting the final total, which we should arrive at in the coming weeks.

It is for the love of our community that we host events that bring everyone together, and it’s for the love of the hospice that our supporters show up and take part, making each event memorable in its own way.

I was gladdened to see our guests having a lovely time at the ball, which is almost certain to return again next year.
