The cause of a house explosion which has left a woman with serious injuries remains "undetermined" as an investigation continues.
Emergency services were called at around 11am on Wednesday after reports of an explosion at a property on Nelson Street in Fishpool.
A fire broke out with smoke surrounding the area and Greater Manchester Police said a woman in her 70s suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
Residents were evacuated following the blast, which appears to have caused damage to three terraced homes.
An investigation involving Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS), gas network Cadent and the council is underway to find out the cause of the blaze.
In a statement read out near the incident on Wednesday afternoon, GMFRS area manager and head of service delivery, Paula Lyons, said: “At approximately 11am this morning, GMFRS were mobilised to reports of an explosion.
"GMFRS mobilised their predetermined attendance for this type of incident and on arrival crews were met with a fully evolved fire and a partial collapse.
“GMFRS has worked extensively with our other blue light partners and other agencies to resolve this incident and we will continue to work into the night and the coming days to ensure a successful resolution and to hopefully get residents back into their properties as soon as possible.
“We can confirm one person was taken to hospital, and remains in hospital, and our thoughts are with that person and everyone involved at this time.

“It is undetermined as to what caused the explosion currently but we will continue to work with partners and Greater Manchester Police to determine that cause.
“Currently all of the terraced properties have been evacuated and we’re working with Bury Council to get people back into their properties as soon as possible.”
A council spokesperson added: “We continue to work with emergency services and are supporting those who are not able to return to their homes at this time.
