Three people have been taken to hospital after a reported triple stabbing in Bury town centre on Monday.

Emergency services were sent to Murray Road at around 12pm before the victims were found and taken to hospital.

An air ambulance helicopter was seen in the area too.

No arrests have been made as Greater Manchester Police (GMP) appeal for witnesses to come forward.

It is thought to have been a "targeted attack" with "no threat to the wider public".

A GMP spokesperson said: "Greater Manchester Police are still responding to an incident on Murray Road, Bury.

"Officers remain at the scene to conduct further enquiries into what is believed to be a stabbing.

"The extent of the injuries sustained by three victims are thankfully not thought to be life-threatening.

"No arrests have been made at this time.

"Anyone with information that may help is asked to call 101 quoting incident 1338 of 11/03/2024."

Detective Chief Inspector John Charlton, of GMP’s Bury division, said: “We believe this incident was a targeted attack and thankfully no one has suffered life-threatening injuries.

“There is not a threat to the wider public and we believe this was an isolated incident.

“You may see heightened patrols in the local area – don’t be alarmed by this.

"Our officers are there to help, support and reassure the wider community.

“We are appealing to anyone with information about this incident to make a report to police.

“This includes anyone who may have relevant footage including CCTV, mobile, Ring doorbell or dashcam. You can make a report by calling 101, quoting 1338 of 11/03/2024.

“Alternatively, you can make a report anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We’ve responded to a police incident following a call at 12.06pm.

"Three patients have been taken to hospital."

Police cordons have been set up in the area as detectives investigate.

One shopkeeper on Princess Parade said: “I saw four constables in the alley and thought 'why are they outside, what’s going on here?'

“Then I could hear a helicopter overhead and I thought something isn’t right.” 

Upon looking outside, the shopkeeper said he could see someone “sat on the floor” in the outdoor market area behind the shopping parade. 

He said that this was “around 1-1.30pm".
