Good Friday is traditionally a popular day of the year to go to the chippy for tea and we have rounded up some of the best in the borough.

Of course, there are a wealth of great chippies across Bury but we have listed the following four eateties that have impressive ratings and glowing reviews from those who tried them out:

Chips @ No.8 – Prestwich

Chips at No.8 has won its fair share of awards over the years and the reviews are clear to see why.

For the last three years, Chips at No.8 on Clifton Road in Prestwich has made the top 50 in the UKs Fry Awards.

One reviewer said: “This is our number one choice for fish and chips.

“I usually have a very short wait which ensures piping hot, freshly cooked fish and chips, compared to eating lukewarm food and limp chips.

“They were able to cook me a lightly battered fish and the portion size was very good. Mushy peas and tartare sauce were excellent too.

“Fantastic!”
