A young pup appears to be following in his mum's footsteps after he got a can of dog food stuck on his head.

Crumpet, a two-year-old Zuchon dog, hit headlines recently after her owner found her "covered in sugar puffs".

Her owner, Heather Hunt, tried to get the cereal out of Crumpet's fur but it proved to be lodged very deep.

The 51-year-old said: "She got into two other cereal boxes too but the sugar puff cereal is covered in honey so it stuck to her fur like tar."

While the secondary school teacher had six dogs in her Oldham home at the time, Crumpet's seven-week-old puppy, Ronnie, appears to carry the same cheeky traits as the youngster was found "clanging around" in his crate with a can of dog food on his head.

The funny video shows Heather's dogs were all watching on as she tried to separate the pup from the can.

Heather said: "My dog Crumpet had five puppies and two looked identical so we named them Ronnie and Reggie.

"My son Ryan had fed the dogs and then for whatever reason, had left the can on the dining room table.

"The bigger dogs can get to it if they climb onto the chair, so they must've knocked it off because Ronnie wouldn't be able to get up there."

Heather was upstairs doing some laundry when the fiasco unfolded and she started hearing "some clanking and yelping" coming from downstairs.

She continued: "I came downstairs to find Ronnie in the big dog crate clashing around as he couldn't get this can off of his head.

"He had obviously tried to get a bit of meat that was right at the bottom of the can.

"I did think it was quite funny but I was then quite concerned thinking, 'Good god I hope he's ok and he can actually breathe.'

"The can couldn't have been on long because I was just upstairs putting laundry away, so it couldn't have been longer than 15 or 20 minutes."

Ronnie has now left Heather and has moved onto his new home, but Heather is still in contact with his new owner who tells her he is still getting into mischief.

She added: "I did meet up with all of the puppies that have moved onto new homes recently.

"We'll be meeting again in a few weeks time and Ronnie's new family tell me that he's dead mischievous and full of character."
