On Friday, June 21, you’ll have the chance to go bright for Bury and wear anything that glitters and glows at the Bury Hospice Twilight Walk.

The mass participation walk, which starts and ends at Sedgley Park Rugby Club, allows for hundreds of family, friends, and colleagues to come together and remember loved ones in a fun way while helping to support the hospice.

We aim to light up the night sky in memory of our cherished ones by taking on the accessible and safe seven-mile route around Prestwich, Whitefield and Unsworth, wearing our brightest and boldest items, which won’t go unnoticed.

Our lives are often left with a void when we lose a loved one. We hope that the twilight walk helps to shine a light on the remarkable people who, although are no longer with us, made such an impact upon us that we want people within our community to know about how special they were.

It’s likely that a crowd of people walking together through the borough of Bury, in brightly coloured clothing will be remembered, just as we’ll continue to remember those we’re walking in memory of.

The twilight walk is a great way of raising vital funds for the hospice.

Every penny matters and has the potential to make a big difference- £5 can help provide support to bereaved children and £30 can help our outreach team visit a patient in their own home.

Spectators are welcome at the start and finish of the walk, to support the participating walkers, who can join as part of a team or solo.

You might want to wear a sparking tiara, come dressed head to toe in flashing neon, or as a banana - the choice really is yours.

There’ll be music and entertainment from the Bury Music Service Big Band and party tunes from our Twilight Walk DJ.

Food and drink will be available, as well as a licensed bar which will be open until after midnight.

We’d like to thank Sedgley Park Rugby Club for allowing us to use its wonderful facility for this fun and memorable walk.

We’re ready to sparkle and shine! Are you?

People are asked to meet at the rugby club at 7pm with the walk commencing at 8pm.

The registration fee is £15 ( which includes a T-shirt and completion goody bag) with a pledge to raise £100 in sponsorship. People can register at buryhospice.org.uk/events/twilight-walk or call 0161 797 1748.
