Bury Football Club are to hold a special memorial service for fans of the past who have had their ashes scattered on the pitch.

This is due to planned works to lay a new 3G pitch this summer, meaning the current ground will be dug up.

The service is due to be held on Sunday, April 28 at 3pm and will be led by celebrant Caroline Clegg with a blessing by the Reverend Julian Heaton, Rector of Bury Parish Church.

Also at the service will be soloist Sean Ruane from Rawtenstall who will be adding Gigg Lane to his many performance venues around the world.

A choir will be directed by Dan McDwyer, drawing singers from the Greater Manchester area for this special event.

The service will celebrate fans of the past and present being back at Gigg Lane.

The ground will be open from 2pm and those wanting to attend can sign up for a free ticket by clicking here.
