Lovers of folk music are in for a treat next month when local legends Bernard Wrigley and The Houghton Weavers perform at Rivington Barn.

Bolton FM presenter Ron Armitage is putting on a special fundraising Folk Show to raise money for Bolton Hospice on June 4.

Ron presents his own radio folk show every Friday at midnight.

Having heard about the financial challenges facing Bolton Hospice, Ron has decided he will put on a special live show at the barn at 1.30pm

Tickets are £12 and are available online through www.ticketfest.co.uk/folk or can be purchased from Bolton FM offices above Ashburner Street Market.

Ron said he learnt that one in three Boltonians will require or know someone who will require the services provided by Bolton Hospice at some stage in their life.

The hospice need to raise £4 million and Ron is hoping to make a contribution whilst having a jolly good time at 'Folk at the Barn'.

The Bolton News threw its support behind Bolton Hospice by launching a campaign after a warning that a “broken” funding model could lead to swinging cuts, which could mean having to cut a third of beds.

Tens of thousands of pounds have been raised to support the hospice, with people still making donations at Save Bolton Hospice on GoFundMe.
