Schools in Prestwich and Whitefield are offering pupils the option of an "early finish" when Manchester legends Oasis play a series highly anticipated gigs at Heaton Park next month.

The Gallagher brothers are set to reunite after 16-year hiatus for the "Oasis Live ‘25" tour at the park near Prestwich on July 11, 12, 16, 19 and 20.

It’s predicted that thousands of extra visitors will be in the area, alongside an increase in traffic congestion.

In a letter seen by the Bury Times, Park View Primary School in Prestwich informed parents that although the school has “made the decision to open as normal” on Friday, July 11 and Wednesday, July 16, they are offering an “optional early finish” from 2pm on both days.

The school will not be allowing children who usually walk home by themselves to leave without a parent or carer due to “the anticipated high volume of people and visitors expected in the area and increased traffic congestion” and that those who do choose to leave early will be provided with “work packs”.

The head teacher at St Margaret’s CE told our reporter that they “were not prepared to share” if they were offering an early finish or not, while St Monica’s High School, St Hilda’s CE Primary School, Sedgley Park Community Primary School and Butterstile Primary School could not confirm either way at the time of writing.
