Bury actress Georgia May Foote has joined forces with other businesses which, like hers, have been devastated by a fire, to try and get them back on track.

Georgia, who starred in ITV's Coronation Street, has set up a crowdfunding page after she, and fellow traders, 'lost everything' in the fire in neighbouring Middleton.

Fire crews were first called to the scene on Wednesday and continue to tackle the blaze, which will include demolishing the building.

Her studio was affected by the huge fire.

She said that thousands of pounds of stock belonging to her and other businesses had gone 'in seconds'.

Now together with the other businesses affected, a page appealing for donations to help the small businesses has been set up.

And within just days, the target is close to being met.

She posted: "Help Us Rebuild After the Storage World Fire

"We're a group of 11 small business owners who have lost everything in the devastating fire at Storage World.

"Overnight, our livelihoods, tools, stock, and years of hard work were reduced to ashes. What we had built up over time is now completely gone — and for many of us, starting again from scratch feels overwhelming without support.

"We are now fundraising to raise £10,000 to help us begin the long journey of rebuilding our businesses. Every penny will go directly towards replacing essential equipment, materials, and supplies that we urgently need to get back on our feet.

"This has been a heart-breaking time, but we are determined not to give up. Your support — whether through donations or simply by sharing this page — means the world to us. Together, we can recover, rebuild, and return stronger.

"Thank you from us all!"

Firefighters were first called at 4.50pm on Wednesday to a fire involving a commercial storage premises in Middleton.

A number of fire engines from across Greater Manchester and multiple specialist appliances have attended to tackle the fire.

Firefighters have been tackling the fire externally due to the danger posed by the contents and structure of the building.

Now a decision has now been made alongside partners and the building owners to demolish the building in order to safely extinguish the fire.

Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Barry Moore, said: “Crews have been working incredibly hard for long hours in tough conditions to contain this complex fire and reduce any risk to the public.

“Due to the nature of the building, and the danger posed by its contents and structure, firefighters have been tackling the fire externally to mitigate any risk to life. The decision has now been taken alongside the building owners and partner agencies to gradually demolish the building so firefighters can safely access and extinguish the fire and bring this incident to a safe conclusion.

“We would like to thank local businesses and residents for their understanding while crews have worked to resolve this incident and express our sympathies to anyone who has lost valuable items in this fire.”

Road closures will remain in place while the demolition takes place, with nearby residents asked to keep their doors and windows closed.
