The town of Prestwich was buzzing, as one of Manchester's most famous exports returned to play the city for the first time in over a decade.
There was a sea of bucket hats up and down Bury New Road throughout today, July 11, as the city got itself ready for one of the biggest comeback gigs ever.
Oasis are playing their first date at Heaton Park tonight, 16 years after they last played their hometown.
The band will play four more dates at the park: tomorrow, July 16, July 19 and July 20.
With its close proximity to the park and its raft of bars and pubs, Prestwich was always a likely location for punters to soak up the scorching sun and have a pint - or five.
The Bury Times went down to the town to get a feel for the atmosphere and speak to some of the gig goers.
Amy and Simon Haddad outside Whole Bunch Wines (Image: Danny Crompton) Amy and Simon Haddad came up from South London to see the boys for the first time.
Speaking outside Whole Bunch Wines, Amy said: “We’ve been excited for a year!
“It was so stressful getting the tickets.”
The pair paid a staggering £350 for each of their tickets!
But one garment was ruling the roost on the Prestwich streets today, as Amy noticed.
She said: “I’ve never seen so many bucket hats in my entire life! I’ve never seen such a sea of it.”
Two gents from Sweden, Gustav and Anton, made the pilgrimage to Manchester to see the band play.
Gustav said: "Oasis kind of made me like music. It's the band for me, with a pistol to my head, if I could choose one, I'd have to choose them.
"I've never seen them, I'm 37, they were in Stockholm around 2008, 2009 perhaps, and I didn't have the chance back then."

Anton added: "The first record I ever bought was Definitely Maybe, and I always loved Oasis. I never thought I would see them, because I was too young.
"When they announced it, I was in the queue for eight hours, and when I finally got the chance to buy the tickets, it was four times more expensive than they announced, so I had to borrow my girlfriend's credit card to pay for that!"
Both said they are most looking forward to seeing Don't Look Back In Anger.

Emma Reynolds and Chris Mackie came from a little closer to home, Chorlton to be exact.
Speaking at Icons, Emma said: "We have seen Liam Gallagher before, it was really good but I think the atmosphere here will be a lot better."
Emma and Chris, who have been in a relationship for 14 years, showed up in a Manchester City and a Manchester United shirt, respectively - that must have caused some headaches over the years.
Emma said she was looking forward to seeing Supersonic, while Chris wanted to see Slide Away.

She said: “We thought it would be an interesting celebration.
“We’ll be here from 11am to 6pm on all the days of the gigs.
“There has been a steady crowd, and lots of people from overseas.
“There have been people from Germany, we met some girls from Georgia.”
