As tens of thousands of fans headed to Heaton Park last night, Saturday, for the penultimate Greater Manchester Oasis gig, the event passed “without any major incidents” according to police.
The evening saw 14 arrests made for offences including fraud, drunk driving and assault, bringing the total arrests across the four homecoming concerts to just 41.
Police have been highly visible in the area as part of a huge security operation to keep concertgoers safe.
Oasis will be playing the final of five gigs at Heaton Park tonight, Sunday, to an expected crowd of around 70,000 fans.
Manchester City Council had instructed people without tickets not to travel to Heaton Park to “protect nearby livestock, preserve parkland and keep everyone safe.”
It comes after the newly dubbed ‘Gallagher Hill’ was fenced off on Tuesday, July 15, restricting views from a popular spot where fans without tickets gathered to watch the Mancunian band perform on stage.
