A music fan has set up a petition to change a Prestwich supermarket’s name permanently.
The Aldi store on Bury New Road changed its signage to ‘Aldeh’ last month as a cheeky nod to the Gallagher brothers' Mancunian accents ahead of the Oasis Live ’25 homecoming gigs at nearby Heaton Park.
Now, one fan has started a petition to make the change permanent, citing it as a “cultural landmark in the making” ahead of the final gig today (July 20).
Founder Ella Curtis dubbed the Britpop band as “one of the most iconic bands this city has ever produced” and is urging Aldi decision makers to consider her plea.
The online page has accrued more than 1,200 signatures at the time of writing, including backing from Bury South MP Christian Wakeford.
She added: “What started as a nod to a special reunion, quickly took on a life of its own. The rebrand resonated with people across Manchester and beyond.
“Photos of the sign went viral, because it tapped into something meaningful: pride in where we’re from, and in what this city has given the world.

“In short, Prestwich got its own blue plaque.
“That’s why I’m starting this petition to ask Aldi to make the “Aldeh” sign permanent.”
Ella says that the ‘Aldeh’ sign reflects that heritage in a way that feels "authentic, local and proud”, adding that it has become a “symbol and reminder of how we, as Mancunians all came together to celebrate of the biggest reunion concerts from one of the world’s biggest bands happening right on our doorstep".
