Visitors to a Bury Santa's Grotto donated more than £2,000 for an animal sanctuary over the festive period.

The Rock Shopping Centre has confirmed £2,038 was raised for the Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary during its Christmas events.

That includes people visiting the grotto and riding on the shopping centre's festive land train, The Rock Express, throughout December.

The shopping centre says the funding will support the sanctuary's Project Purrfect, which is specifically aimed at providing care and support for cats in need.

In a social media post, the shopping centre thanked customers for their generosity, which it said would "truly make a difference".

The post said: "We’re thrilled to share that thanks to your generous donations when visiting our Santa's Grotto and riding our festive land train, The Rock Express, during December, you've helped to raise a fantastic £2,038 for Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary.

"This incredible amount will go towards Project Purrfect, helping provide care and comfort for cats in need.

"A huge thank you to everyone who visited and donated - your generosity truly makes a difference."
