Firefighters sped to a horse's rescue after it fell into a ditch in Bury and became stuck.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said its crews worked to rescue a horse after it had fallen into a ditch in Bury last week.

GMFRS shared the post on social media and stated the horse was named Jack and was 24 years old.

Crews also said that after he had fallen into the ditch, he was unable to stand.

The post said crews had to dig out the riverbank in order to get Jack to higher ground and said he suffered no major injuries.
