A French horn and piano recital is set to take centre stage in the heart of Bury town centre.

Rising classical musicians Toby Johnson-Jones and Lucian Crosby will perform at Bury Parish Church on The Rock on Friday, April 10, as part of the venue's regular series of lunchtime concerts.

The performance begins at 12.30pm, with tickets priced at £6 available on the door.

Accompanied children can attend for free.

Refreshments will be on sale from 11.15am.

Toby Johnson-Jones, a third-year student at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), has already gained significant recognition in the classical music world.

An ABRSM scholar, he began his musical journey with percussion lessons at the Oldham Music Centre before moving on to French horn studies at the Junior RNCM.

Mr Johnson-Jones has performed with national ensembles including the National Children’s Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.

He has appeared at major UK venues, including the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in 2022 and 2023.

He also served as principal horn for the English Schools’ Orchestra, where he was awarded the John McIntosh Award in 2022, and has held the same title with the Hallé Youth Orchestra and Opera North Youth Orchestra.

In 2026, he was named Mrs Sunderland Young Musician of the Year.

He has also taken part in the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra’s Professional Experience Scheme and performed with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

Mr Johnson-Jones was also an RNCM Concerto Competition finalist in 2026 and is active in chamber music.

Lucian Crosby, a pianist and composer originally from Hertfordshire and now based in Manchester, is also in his final year at the RNCM.

He is a dedicated chamber musician, frequently performing with a range of ensembles.

He performs alongside the Cardinal Wind Quintet, with whom he won the RNCM’s Brodsky Prize and reached the finals of the Christopher Rowland Chamber Ensemble of the Year Award.
